Pakshipathalam

Located at a distance of 1,740 kms above the sea level and is one among the challenging spots for tourists across Wayanad who are looking for some adventure and fun. You will be met with deep caves, thick rock blocks and wild forests during the trek. You can reach the top after travelling 16 kms. The Brahmagiri hills are located near to Pakshipathalam and are one of the most interesting places to visit. The climate is moderate and the best season for trekking is from November to April.

Chembra Peak Wayanad

This is the best place where you can explore your passion to trek along the tallest of the Wayanad hills that is at a height of 6,900 feet. This is a popular choice for trekking among adventurists travelling across Wayanad. It is safe and also guides are always keeping a close watch at amateurs from a close distance. Tourists can acquire trekking equipments on rent. You will be met with a feast of green meadows while you trek towards the Chembra peak. The slopes at the feet of the peak are quite steep which takes a different shape as the trekker moves upwards. The trekker treks across 7 hills before he finally reaches Chembra and usually it takes around 3 hours if the trekker is an expert. The popular Hridaya Saras is located along Chembra where you can camp at night. September to February is among the best seasons to visit Chembra and the trek distance is just 9 kms.

Kodikuthimala

Kodikuthimala also known as the Ooty of Malappuram  is a hill station in the Malappuram district of Kerala in India. Located in Vettathur and Thazhekode villages, at a height of 522 m above sea level, this is the highest geographic peak in Amminikkadan hills .The idyllic setting of this hilly area is truly fascinating. Ever-flowing springs, waterfalls, a watchtower and the Suicide Point are the main attractions here. The British hoisted their flag on this hilltop during a survey, thus getting the name Kodikuthimala. It is almost two decades ago that the hilltop started featuring on the tourism map of Kerala. Kadalundi bird sanctuary

Sprawling over a cluster of islands in a scenic area surrounded by hillocks, where the Kadalundi River flows into the Arabian Sea, the Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary in Malappuram district, is home to more than a hundred species of native birds and over 60 species of migratory birds. Rambling over an area of 3 sq km, this fertile area engulfed by rich hillocks provide an excellent view of the mouth of the Kadalundi River.  Various migratory birds, including whimbrels, herons, sandpipers, gulls etc. can be seen between the months of November and April. Banasura Sagar Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam, which impounds the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River, is part of the Indian Banasurasagar Project consisting of a dam and a canal project started in 1979.The goal of the project is to support the Kakkayam Hydro electric power project and satisfy the demand for irrigation and drinking water in a region known to have water shortages in seasonal dry periods. In the dam's reservoir there is a set of islands that were formed when the reservoir submerged the surrounding areas. The islands with the Banasura hills in the background provide a spectacular view. Edakkal Caves Wayanad

Edakkal Caves  are two natural caves at a remote location at Edakkal, 25 km from Kalpetta in the Wayanad district of Kerala in India's Western Ghats. They lie 1,200 metres above sea level on Ambukutty Mala, beside an ancient trade route connecting the high mountains of Mysore to the ports of the Malabar coast. Inside the caves are pictorial writings believed to date to at least 6,000 BCE, from the Neolithic man, indicating the presence of a prehistoric civilization or settlement in this region. The Stone Age carvings of Edakkal are rare and are the only known examples from south India. Petroglyphs These are not technically caves, but rather a cleft or rift approximately 96 feet (29 m) by 22 feet (6.7 m), a 30-foot-deep (9.1 m) fissure caused by a piece of rock splitting away from the main body. Pookode Lake is a scenic freshwater lake in the Wayanad district in Kerala, South India. Pookode is a natural fresh water lake nestling amid evergreen forests and mountain slopes at an altitude of 770 meters above sea level. It is 15 km away from Kalpetta. Panamaram, the rivulet which ultimately becomes Kabani River, originates from the Pookode lake.[1] It is spread across an area of 8.5 hectares and with a maximum depth of 6.5 metres. Lying 3 km south of Vythiri town, the lake is one of the most popular tourist spots in Wayanad. The lake has the shape of India's map. Kakkadampoyil   is a small village partly located in the Kozhikode and Malappuram Districts Kerala. Location This rural settlement is about 19km from the Thiruvambady and 24km from the Nilambur . There are many indigenous tribal groups in this area. It is set high on the Western Ghats, with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2100 m. Kozhippara waterfalls is situated near by here. Nedumkayam Ecotourism

Nedumkayam Bridge Nedumkayam is 14 km from Nilambur town, in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. Nedumkayam is noted especially for its rich rain forests. The wooden rest house build here by the British offers a panoramic view of the elephant and deer grazing in the forest nearby. One has to get prior permission from the Indian Forest Service to enter the forest zone. Heavy restrictions are imposed as a measure to save the existing forest land and wild animals. An elephant taming center is also located here. Nilambur including Nedumkayam has been selected for being developed as Kerala's second ecotourism destination.
